1995 mecury force 70 hp . purchased this outboard about a year ago all the gas lines had to be replaced they were all soft .carb had to be cleaned . Runs great now. I don't think it has ever had any kind of ethnoal treatment in the fuel. Should i use an ethnoal treatment in the fuel and how often.

I use Stabil at every fill up nowadays..I also recommend installing a fuel-water separating filter somewhere between the primer bulb and fuel pump.. This should help with any ethanol problems and will keep your fuel clean.

Yes the water filter and fuel separator will help tons. Just remember to keep a spare filter on the boat. SO when it get full, normally while running, you can change it. Seirra sells a kit for around $30. Comes with two filters. Well worth the money.

Their are a couple different one out on the market. But they all do the same thing. The difference is the threads on the filters are made to a specific branded filter. Like the two them I know of is the merc one, big threads, and the Johnson/Evinrude, smaller threads. Also depending oo your HP rating the size of filter. Lower HP do not need the same size element in the filter as the big boys 150HP +. Best to look right here is you want to do your research. They sell them.

I would pick a serria or other aftermarket kit, they are cheaper and do the same thing. Just pick a filter style (merc, Johnson, etc) of the dealer that is closest to you. I think only two it three companies make these filters anyways....
