Hi folks,

I am working on my Evinrude 115 HP of unknown vintage (see below*) and I need photo of someones correct linkage. Mine is in the photo and the deadstop for the lowest idle setting is misaligned- the deadstop rubs the block and hangs up the timing advance a little. I am wondering if there is a shaft spacer behing the pivot that is missing.

*The Unit is a 1997 115HP but the power head has been changed out with an older one of unverifiable age. Was reported as an 89 but I don't know how to verify that.

I was also wondering if anyone can tell me how to choke/prime this engine when hand starting with a dead battery. There seems to be an electric primer on top of the carbs and it has a little valve stem on it that I guess is for letting air out but maybe for hand priming?

No Evinrude gurus? Any suggestions on which service manual to buy to try and get my info?

Looks like the stop is bent on yours, and therefore rubbing on the block. Here are a few pics off my '82, they appear to be similar. You dont seem to have any missing or broken parts there, which is a good thing. there isnt much clearance on that screw as it comes over the block though.

Thank you for the pictures. I am going to get some paint stripper and remove the incorrect black paint over everything and examine it more cloely for bends/misalainment.

Cheers!
