There is no more hipocrasy in religion than in the general public, Its just more news worthy in religion.

Didnt he deny having sex with the guy. If he did in facy not have sex with him, then whats wrong with a massage from a dude (not that i would do it)?

The Evangelical church of america clearly states that a pastor should be above reproach. Mearly going to a gay prostitue (even just for a massage) puts him in a bad spot. And so he is no longer above reproach.

Now I dont know what really happened, perhaps they did have sex, but either way he had an obligation to step down from his place of leadreship.

Stepping down is in no way an admission of guilt.

Pastors dont make any more money than u or me. most often less. most of the money from the plate goes to paying bills for the church, power, water, busses, outreach programs, youth groups.

Did he embezzle money or somthin.

I'd have to sum it up by saying this man is a failure and his family is ruined.

He paid his male prostitute $200 for each visit, plus the cost of the meth. Seeing as he wasn't reported to be working a nigh job, it is safe to assume that he was spending money from the plate.

I was under the impression he was just a pastor or somthin, pleez pardon my ignorance.

as far as pastors go they are free to spend theyre own paycheck on watever they wish
if its gonna be prostitutes and meth thats theyre own prerogative, tho they have no business leading a congregation.

altho a pastor should step down in such a position, im pretty sure a pastor is not entitled to return his wages.

Not sure if he recieved more money than he was entitled, and i dont think there is any legal reason he should have to return any earned income. as the pres he probably was paid well tho.

Boom,did the word christianity feature anywhere in my comment? I distinctly remember using the word "religion".
Or is it that in your opinion christianity is the only religion in existence?

Do you mean my race or the religion of my "ilk"?

And it seems interesting that the accuser failed a polygraph test ....
On the other hand, Haggard did confess to buying the meth and being with the accuser, just not having sex with him....

He did the right thing to step down asap. Gotta agree with you jtex, it does smell of political crap. Unfortunately, Rev. Haggard put himself in a position to allow this. As a pastor, I feel that those that hold that role SHOULD be held to a higher standard, and Rev. Haggard blew that. Did he do what he was accused of? I do not know. Will wait and see what happens, or if it all blows over after the electons....

Fair questions both, rolmops. This is due to the fact that their ISN'T hypocracy present when a deviant professes their own immorality. The hypocracy comes into play when one (anyone -- doesn't have to be the "leader") becomes a hypocrite to his own professed convictions. It's that simple.

We are created by God with a free will. If you were God, would YOU want a pack of "mind-numbed robots", or would you rather create beings who stirved (mind you, i did not say suceeded )to be with you for eternity, and WILLINGLY follow your commandments?

A simple analogy: My puppy still uses the living room floor as it restroom , but it sure knows I don't like it when she does that.... She also knows she often gets rewarded when she goes outside.


You have to know how us evangelical Christians feel about this, rodbolt. And you have to be acutely-aware of the timing, source and hoped-for result attached to this latest release from your friends at the new york times.

I am voting early today as soon as mrs 12Footer gets home from werk.
