can anyone help me with information on this outboard? due to a death in the family i am left with this motor and have no idea what size it is or where i could possibly sell it at. are there numbers i should look for? when it was last used 2 years ago it worked great but no one in the family seems to know anything about it. any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi baxter
Look for the model# on the transom clamp. Should be a plate just under the cowl at the front of the motor. If not there try looking for a welch plug about the size of a quarter on the engine block.

Re: Evenrude "Big Twin"

Hello Baxter.
Are you sure that it was 4353D? Or was it 40353D?
4353d would make it a 1940 3.3 hp and not bigtwin.
40353d would make it a 1963 40 hp bigtwin.
For the 40 horse you can buy a seloc or clymer book with all the info you need and more. The 1940 would be a bit more complicated.
good luck
