My 115 Evenrude (Purchased in 1969)alternator charges to the top of the meter with the engine running at speed. My Clymers manual does not show the same configuration as my motor. I can not identify any thing that looks like voltage regulator. Anyone have any information. Model #115983E, Serial # E05870 This motor also has a history of burning out "Pulse Packs".

Re: Evenrude Overcharging

I haven't checked the manual, but I think that is an unregulated system -- believe my '70 Evinrude 85 was unregulated. It may be that your battery is weak. If you have a known good battery, fully charged, you might try switching it with the current one and see if you still get that high charge. Are you using a voltmeter or an ammeter?
