The 22.5hp 6039 model was built (with some minor changes) from 1939 to 1950. I don't have a serial number breakdown, but yours is fairly high so it's likely a post-WWII model.<br />It was the last of the Evinrude opposed-twin motors (not counting snowmobile motors in the 1970s). Very sturdy motors, they make good stump-pulling torque. Also very simple motors and not hard to get running if it's in good shape to start with. Run it rich on the oil - preferable 24:1 (or richer). There's no gearshift or spin-around for reverse - start it and hang on!<br /><br />- Scott
