well, mothers day 2007 was eventful for me. got my mom happy in the morning havein her over to my house and sittin in my back yard drinking coffee and puttin her onto some coffee cake. had a nice talk and feel she enjoyed the visit.
this afternoon was the eventful part. ya know the boatin part.
my girlfriends been wantin to take her daugter and child. started with no life jacket for the child. thought i had one, nope. they went off to wally world, (only wasted an hour or so of perfectly good boating time) came back with an ok uscg approved type 3 jacket for him. good. then, like usual lately, we had more high winds here. geez, can't get away from them. 20-30 mph winds. gusts at 35 so they said. good white caps on the water.
started out with the girlfried lettin the fella next to us that was haveing trouble starting his engine, know, that after he did get it started, that he should put his drive down. she told him 2 or 3 times too. amazing. he drove off with it in trailer mode......shrug?
took the girlfrieds daugther, with her 2 year old. none potty trained child with us today boatin. took the girlfriend too ya know. thought that was appropriate.
. anyways, i was dreadin it for sure. i just aint never been into 2 year olds that aint potty trained. not even my own. that's another story though. well, he was a good boy and i didn't end up with a mess in my boat like i figured i would. good. then there was the high winds. i'd been woderin if my bilge pump worked. it does. much to my happyness. i surely bench checked it. but never seen it do any work on the boat. i'm hopeing that my boat is stayin that dry but wasn't believein it. but today it did do some work. actually saw it puttin water out of the bilge. that's how big the lake was today. real fun.
i'm also gettin better at the aristocraft. i aint to happy with the hull design. it beats me to death. my ol trisonic was better than this hull. doin 45 * or less into the wind, even up to maybe 20 or 15* seems to be suiting me better. still, i can't do any real speed into the wind. i'd rattle the fillings out of my teeth i think. anyways.
topped it off coming in with a three point landing with winds blowin away from the dock and to shore...a one shot deal ya know. ol lady got the bow, i got the stern, had her tied off in a half a moment and all was under control.....
