Someone gave me an old sea king they found on the side of the road in the garbage.

Its amazing how open and uncluttered it looks under the cowling. Should be fun to restore

Does anyone know the horse power and year?
The only numbers I can find are
14532 Alcoa
190010
183940-1

Thank you

Re: Ever hear of sea king

Sea King is a brand name from Montgomery Wards, the big catalog retailer.

I can't find any of those numbers on their lists. Several companies made outboards for Wards, so it could be any of several.

Most of the Sea King model numbers include two or three letters, like GG or VWB. See if you can find a number like that somewhere.

If not, photos would help. If you can't do that, do the best you can to describe the outboard to us. Does the cylinder on the powerhead have fins? What kind of cowling does it have on it? Does it have one or two spark plugs? That sort of thing.

Some of the Sea Kings were made by OMC, via Gale. Those are nice outboards. Others were made by Clinton. Some were even made by Eska, West Bend, and Chrysler.

I hope we can help.

Mercury also made SeaKings for Montgomery Wards. I have one and the serial starts same as mercs...K1-xxxx, K2, K4 etc. Look close at the pic and you can see the ID on my 1940 K1 (04-K1) Sea King.
