Only thing that I didn't like is Leonardo's accent, he had more of a british accent than a South African one ....... oh yes and BTW, those African countries are not anything like South Africa .......

Not important, Deejaycee.. What is the rate of taxation there?
We are at about 38% combined taxes here, and it is getting old.
As for the movie, no.. The trailer alone made it clear that that it was another agenda-driven movie... Biut then, i don't watch very many movies of any kind.

It's about the African diamond trade where much of the labor was basically slave-labor with proceeds going to get and keep warlords in power. I'm sure Footer would find some way to make it out to be anti-Bush. I'm sure Footer would find a way to make Bambi out to be anti-Bush.

Hahahaha .... the movie have nothing to do with Bush ..... it was shot in the bush though ... anyway .... our combined taxes is about 45% as far as I know ......

(I picked Bambi purposely. I knew the hunting thing would come up. Getting slow in your old age, Footer? I have little to nothing against hunting, prefer bows to guns. More sport IMHO. Own both, but both collecting dust lately. Trapping is another story, no sport in that whatsoever. FWIW I work 6-day weeks. )

Puddle Jumper .... it does drive us nuts .... people from other countries think that lions and monkeys walk in the street and that there is no or very little white people here, no houses only clay houses with grass roofs ..... and that Nelson Mandela is the greatest person alive ..... well, let me just say ..... the only animals here is in the zoo, our houses are very much built with brick and tile roofs, and that, (where I stay) there is more white people that black people .... and Nelson Mandela ... well that's another story ....

When I bought my wife her diamond ring, the store provided documents that proved the diamond was mined in South Africa by slave labor. Otherwise, it would have been just like any other diamond....

I wasn't all that impressed with the movie, or DiCaprio, but the diamond business is pretty interesting. The DeBeers company controls the diamond market, and they control the supply that make it to market to maintain the price levels.

And while there is clearly a problem with warlords supporting their activities with proceeds of diamond sales, it is not so easy to figure out which diamonds are involved. When there is big money to be be made, there seems to be always ways to circumvent inconvenient rules.

Good point, Rick! I went to a baseball game last night and it would have been hard for them to play without a diamond.

So, PW, what you are saying is if DeBeers would loosen their grip on diamonds we would have more baseball? BOYCOTT DEBEERS, I say! Baseball for everyone!

Deejay i know what you mean up hear in Canada we,ve had tourist that think all of the natives live in teepees or igloos and a wild west show will brake out at any time.Plus for some reason thay seem to think its winter 11 months of the year with 6 meters of snow on the ground all year.
Well the wild west show i gess could brake out depending were you live.
