Come on guys Honda isn't getting snubbed...

I's just the best made and not much goes wrong!!

If it wsn't for the Merc's, Johnson and Evinrudes, Tohatsu's, etc., the repair shops would be out of business.:)

Re: EVERYONE-PLEASE READ!!

When I joined this forum, we were at about 5,000 members. We are now at over 28,000.

Something had to be done. The outboard section was overloaded and was causing problems with: speed, consistancy, supposed lost posts, etc.

Let's not all forget, this service is totally free.

The moderators are not paid. JB, MOD1, MOD2 do this for $00000.

There are some unhappy people out there, we know that. However, the moves were made to help some other people retain their sanity.

Let's all get along and fix some problems.

Thanks.

Re: EVERYONE-PLEASE READ!!

I think this format was the answer to it all...bandwidth is very important for things to move smoothly. You keep your socks in one spot, your shirts in another, your shoes and coat all have there place. If you piled them up all in a big stack in the middle of the floor everyday, You would find everything eventualy. but it would take more time than if everything had its on place. organisation is the key to everything.

Suzuki40

Re: EVERYONE-PLEASE READ!!

I hope the Admin/mod/help/big brass bell man, will take a good look at some of the suggestions made here. I know (not think or FEEL) that several are very good, and will actually enhance the recent changes.
Jeepster's idea of eliminating the general outboard forum sure seems like it would help, along with my idea of relabeling the drop down menu, and placing it near the top of the page.

I just scanned the pages from the last few days. Several misplaced posts in just about every forum. We have to make it easier for the newbies to get it right.

I have heard this mentioned several times. Can anyone tell me how any of this effects "bandwidth"? You still have nearly the same amount of data being transferred when moving to a new forum. The same amount of data in the stream means the same amount of bandwidth is being used. Right?

Well, I hope you review and make note of the suggestions.

I think the new layout is brilliant. Kudos.

It's was a wise choice to give OMC and Merc their own repair forum, since they always seem to need it.
LOL
Here it comes....

Re: EVERYONE-PLEASE READ!!

Once more, thank you soooo much to our moderators! You do a fantastic job and thousands upon thousands of fellow boaters thank you for it. Second, thank you sooooo much to all of our regular visitors, those who have been here 3+ years and those who are new!

This change had to be made. We had to split up the boards into more topics. There was no other way around it. Now, the way we split them up is something that can be debated but we had to split it up because this board was quickly grinding to a halt on our servers. Sorry.

I have moved the non-repair outboards topic to be below the brands. Great idea guys. This will force people to scroll down through their brand before posting to it. I think this will help greatly. Sorry about the Honda thing. We hope that it will be happy in its new location. Roscoe - thanks for the "hop to" comment. I hope the new wording helps. :)

Bear - very valid comments. We were getting an amazing amount of emails and complaints from people who posted a question. They had no idea how fast and responsive you guys all are, therefore, when they came back in 2 days to see if anyone responded their post was on page 14 and they never could find it again. ALL large communities have MORE thank just one main area. Take a look at thedieselshop.com's site! Yikes! And you guys thought we are big?!?! Image if they only had one main forum! This will take time to get used to but we had to do this!

We hope we won't lose any of you over this change. Please try to adapt and you'll see that it isn't that hard to jump between the new areas. Thanks everyone!!!!

Re: EVERYONE-PLEASE READ!!

Since I have been on this board I searched for problems, brands, etc that I could use. I have scanned others problems and sent responses a few times if thought would help.
The disparaging remarks about 'brands' are to be expected but how many people have 'HONDA's,
Yamaha's etc from the 50's that are still around that need assistace?
If any motor were 'Idiot proof' then there would be no need for a board for Honda's, Yamaha's, Suzuki's etc.
Take care of you equipment and it will take care of you.
To all moderator's, good job, and to all who keep this site going, thanks.

Re: EVERYONE-PLEASE READ!!

Before, I'd zip through the outboard section for a Honda keyword. I'd read only those posts to help or learn.

Now I have only to go to that section Honda, Tohatsu and Nissan.
Beautiful and well done, Thanks!

Now all we need is for the recipients of our suggestions and advice to post back if the advice and help actually helped them.
Or, what the problem or outcome actually was found to be.

Thanks again admin5, JB, iboats.

Re: EVERYONE-PLEASE READ!!

just got back, was away a few days. hey, you guys gone and did move the general outboard discussion as I had suggested. I'm a newbie/nobody but I'm so interested in boats now that I have a family and sold all my other toys (motorcycles etc.). my wife likes the boat so I'm in ;) after clicking on "iboat forums" I immediately see the brands, excellent.

Re: EVERYONE-PLEASE READ!!

roscoe,
I found it by accident. I was looking at the smilies and there it was in the corner of my eye. in fact right under the smilie symbols. don't know if it's always been there but I saw it. also don't know if it's working though. like you just posted the question and I still haven't gotten an email yet.
