What marks do you point the timing light at to determine timing degree?Does anybody know the correct degree for this motor.I have a manual but it says 28* btdc, but to refer to the engine placard for specific motor values. My motor has no timing info anywhere. Its a 1966 Evinrude 100hp starflite with points.I dont understand how to do Joe Reeves procedure with this motor, how would I adjust the dissy?just with the Idle stop screw?.I replaced the timing belt and had it at WOT,and lined up the flywheel and its mark on the block and The dissy pulley with its mark on the dissy mounting bracket and put the belt on.Its running but not as it should.pretty sure I messed something up with the timing. Any suggestions?

There is no timing adjustment other than having the belt correct, and the points set correctly.

As F_R states....... simply line up the marks on the flywheel and block, then the distributor pulley and bracket.

The method I have of timing (as per the 4? thing) pertains to the later model engines that have the solid state Capacitance Discharge ignition systems. There is no way you could use this method to time your engine.

If the engine ran okay before replacing the belt, and now it doesn't, you do not have the belt properly lined up with the marks, points set wrong, something of that nature.
