evinrude 135 hard starting?

i know the carbs need to be rebuilt but why does the starter disengage then make that "whooonnn" sound. thanks for anyinfo.

Its the starter drive spinning on the shaft after the starter disengages.

Probably the original factory lubricant has dried up on the armature shaft in the starter. Not unusual on an older engine. It sounds funny, but unlikely the starter will fail tomorrow. You can pull the starter apart, clean the carbon dust out of it- then reassemble with some fresh white lithium grease on the top and bottom bushings of the armature. That should do the trick.
