Evinrude 140 HP Buzzer

Just purchased a 20ft Trophy which had been repowered. Was told this was a 1989 Evinrude 140. My question is, when I turn the key on for the first time, a buzzer sounds for about 30 seconds. What is this? I was told that it was an oil injection motor, but not using that feature and mixing oil and gas @ 50/1. Is this the correct mix? Thanks

If you have the self test horn it should chirp when you turn the key on. If youre not using the oil injection make sure you disconnect the wires on the pump.<br /><br />Yes, 50:1 is the correct mix. Use a good quality TCW III oil and 87 octane. Make sure the plugs are Champion.
