Does anyone know if a 1976 evinrude 15 powerhead fit on a evinrude 1979 lower unit. I know the electronics are different. I'm concerned about the driveshaft and bolts matching up.

The powerhead should bolt up, the shifter components were plastic in 79 and metal in 76, but they are interchangeable. I've had a 75 , 83 and 88 9.9 (same motor essentially less carb and a couple other components) powerhead, all the bolt holes are the same, less starter stuff.

According to Brp the 1974-76 use the same shaft but the 1979 is totally different so I doubt it will swap.

shopevinrude.com is showing a drive shaft part number of 0387606 and 0321455 as an alternate for the 76 model. The 79 model is showing a 0321455 so I think I'm OK driveshaftwise.
