Evinrude 150 Cuts out but resets

1995 150hp Evinrude. The motor will cut out after running over 3000rpms. It will run for a few minutes then shut down back and just idle. If you try to run again it will not get back up and sounds like it is missing. But if stop the motor and kill the power it will jump back up then do the same thing. It acts like it is a protective computer shut off or something. Good carbs and plugs.

What it sounds like is the SLOW system in the power pack cutting in and out. The system automatically cuts the engine rpms to 2500rpm should the engine overheat. Which brings up the next question, are you sure the engine is NOT overheating?

motor runs great ,but will just shut off as if you turned off the key but after a couple of min it will start back up
