I have got a 15 hp Evinrude from 1981.

This engine runs very well, but I have got one problem.

There is a nice strong waterjet coming out of the tell tale hole. OK.
But the problem is that there is no water coming out of the rear exhaust ports....

What could be the problem ? And how could I solve this ?

Dennis

Welcome to iboats Dennis....

First....you don't have a problem. What the ports are, are exhaust relief ports. These decrease the backpressure a little on the cylinders for easier starting. If you would look close while running, you will see a mist coming out these ports, mainly at wide open throttle. The water return from the block is exhausted with the exhaust out through the prop hub. So relax and enjoy the ride.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have.

Sure. If the tell tale quits, push a wire up in the hole to unplug it. If it ain't plugged, check the engine temp. If the flat place ontop of the block is to hot to touch for more than a few seconds, it's overheating. The flat area is just forward of the head on top.
