I just got this running . I put a new impeller in it.it is pumping a little water but not much.I think there was a rubber boot that the water pump tube slid into that if I remember correctly did not look right.I am going up to the shop to remove the foot.Do I need to blow compressed air in the tube on the motor to make sure its not stopped up.Fairly certain I have the water pump on correct. It is a 62 or 63 not 72
.

15036 best I can tell ITS A 62 or 63.i blowed air. through the water tube and air was coming out of the exhaust holes.Something did come out of the exhaust holes.I reinspected the pump assembly and found no problem .Then I tried to crank it and it would not crank.I checked spark with a tester that lights up and I'm getting spark.Tommorrow I will replace the plugs.I just cleaned the old ones and try it again .At least I did have it running for a little while so maybe there is hope for it

I have seen that grommet catch ( well I didnt actually have an eyeball on it but....) on the edge of the water pipe up to the motor and collapse inwards inside the pump outlet and block the pump outlet ......and then pop back into place when the lower unit was removed ah🤬gain so there was nothing to see . There was a big ...like 0.5mm burr on one side of the end of the water pipe (from where it was cut to length during manufacture ) that was causing the issue . I believe thats why the previous owner sold the motor ,because he couldnt figure out the erratic cooling issue . Yeah it was mine 😁 . I wont bore you with the diagnostic process but once I had nutted it out ( at about 2am whilst staring at the bedroom ceiling wondering wtf ) I went straight to that burr ......I have never been so happy to find a bit of shoddy manufacturing 😃😃😃, and now that motor pisses hard enough to blow a small hole in my gravel driveway.
