Hello, How do I set the timing at idle. There is a screw that stops the timer base as it returns to idle. I think it has been messed with before we purchased the motor. The Seloc manual dont address this adjustment? thanks

You will need a timing light to do that.

Once you have that, start the engine on muffs and let it warm up then check the timing and adjust it.

You don't set the timing at idle. Slightly advancing or retarding the spark at idle speeds is how the idle RPM is controlled. The idle stop screw that you mention does just that. You adjust the screw to limit the retard to whatever setting gives you the desired idle RPM.
