Today my trusty Rude would not start. We started trolling from the dock, with the engine tilted, and did bother to start at this time. Four hours later, I lowered the engine, and tried to start manually. I pulled the primer several times, however, I do not believe I flooded the engine. It would not start. I replaced the plugs, and it still would start. We returned to the dock with the trolling motor. When I returned home, I disconnected the fuel line, and popped the snap ring from the primer and pulled it apart. Several small black, plastic appearing particles washed out. I sprayed the primer housing out with WD40, also sprayed the primer shaft to clean, reassembled. I re-routed the inlet fuel line from the carb. bowl to where it was lower than the plunger, thinking this would help prime it. After priming, the engine started normally. I really don't know what I did to correct the problem, unless I just didn't wait long enough for the primer to fill, when I first attempted to start the engine when we were in the water. Any suggestions would be helpful.
