Hello,

I am looking for information on how to retrofit a Envirude 20hp 1989 model CE20CRLCEM to a 30 or 35hp. I know that gearcase and motor (bore, stroke, etc) are the same for all models. Is it only the fuel system that differs?

I want to do that because I just bought an bigger boat.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Félix Thomas-Guy

Hello,
I have a 1990 Johnson 25 hp that I bought used in July 2001. The previous owner had it converted to a 30 hp by a very reputable Johnson dealer. The parts that were changed were as follows: carburetor, intake manifold and throttle control cam. I don't know if exhaust port timming is an issue with this model. This motor powers a 16' Lund Explorer. The previous owner said the conversion made a big difference. My motor idles fine and has great top end power, however runs a little rough at around 1/3 throtle. as soon as spring comes I intend to adress this. I am happy with my converted motor. My advice would be to post this question to Joe Reeves who contributes to this message board often. Go with his answer. Good Luck.
