Yeah, I saw the tip of one was torn off. I found that one piece though. OK, so now I know how to change the impeller rather than paying a shop $120 an hour. It should be changed every 2 years or so?

I want to thank you and Crosbyman and others for all the advice. Not having a lot of experience working on an outboard motor, I feel like I have a better understanding of how it works. I'm the kind of guy that prefers to work on my own stuff, be it truck, motorcycle, riding mower, household plumbing, washing machine, etc.

glad to help... saddly you are now addicted to repairing oldies....we all started with one and they keep showing up. Great hobby ....I fix them up with basic carb, ignition, gear oil and impeller and resell them at cost . keeps me busy in the winter :) . it is a 25hp now find a small kicker for trolling like a nice 4hp or 6hp fisherman (same magneto )

They seem like a simple but solid design. I bought this motor for $600 for a 14' fishing boat. As long as it gets me out in the lake to fish I'm happy.
