evinrude 25hp/1986 e25tecdc. lower unit

trying to find info on what yrs I can enterchange on it came without lower so I bought 2 a long shaft that may work with the 5 in ent, but I want a shorty on it and the one I got is cracked

Maybe you should have put the extra info in your post instead of somebody elses. The 3 jaw clutch is a newer lower than the 2 jaw. What years are your lowers because you could have a 1980 lower unit there.

again I was just trying to help someone/sorry. now maybe I can do good/LOL don't really know how to find the yr on either one of them can't find any # and having only 35% eye sight don't help any. both lowers are 1 piece the older 1 has no zinc or tab on it while the newer one does if that will help. I have tried to post pics for some reason it will not let me.

You should be able to just swap the driveshaft between the 2 lowers.

yes sir from working on outboards and ib/ob to just what I was hoping. the pinion is the same spline but much deeper in the 2 dog/ older one. with the short drive shaft in the newer unit the impeller flat is about 2in to high. thinking of just cutting the long drive shaft and welding back together/ lol . it may come to that.
