First Mate
Member # 15478

posted August 25, 2002 04:21 AM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As per Bob_VT advice I'm reposting on this forum.

My 1984 evinrude 35 has developed some seriously bad habits.
After purring along and being a real honey for around 2 hours, not missing a beat, I found that I could not start her without first opening the choke fully and letting it almost start and then on the next pull half choking it. I also had to turn the idle setting up ridicuously high to keep it going when in neutral. It would then only run at anything approaching smoothly on three quarter or greater throttle, anything less required me choke it again while running. I've checked the plugs and fuel mix setting and they seem OK.
When I checked the pluge they seemed oily.
The engine was flly serviced last October.
Please help
thanks
Jeremy Airey
