I have a Evinrude Lightwin4 that the throttle won't stay in place when running. After it is started the lever slowly slids back until it kills the motor.I can't find any adjustment and don't know how to fix problem.Could it just be oily and how would I clean it? The serial number is 4306C E0004984. Thanks for any and all help.

Re: Evinrude 4 hp

Dave: I have a little Evinrude 3hp 1968 model with the throttle lever on the side of the motor. On mine, the tension adjustment is on the clamp under the hood that holds the lever on. There is a bolt and a screw on this clamp and the screw is the adjustment. Turn CW for tighter,CCW for looser. I had same problem, fine now.
