Evinrude 40853A Compatable With 40253 ?

Just what it says, I have a service manual for the 1972 40HP, but I own the 1968 40HP.

How far off the mark are these 2 models from each other, aside from the obvious...?

Might be a silly question, but I figured someone would know....

The '72 manual should work for your '68. If I'm wrong I'm sure somebody will correct me.

The torque values should be the same.
