Evinrude 48 Spl oil and fuel mix?

Hello all, Just acquired a "new to me" 1992 evinrude 48 special 2 stroke. Not sure how much oil to mix with the fuel. The prior owner had so much oil in that gas that it totally smoked up my garage after running for less than a minute! It also caused oil to drip out the exhaust afer it's shut down.I want to balance the mix properly so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also what 2 stroke oil do any of you recommend? Is there any one brand that would be better for this motor Vs another? Thanks!

50:1 16 OZ TO 6 gallons of gas

Any TC-W3 Certified oil will do fine.<br /><br />Starting it in your garage will guarantee a cloud of smoke. Did you have it on muffs? If not change the water pump impeller before you run it again.
