evinrude 48spl overheat alarm

i am connecting my 1989 48spl evinrude to a new set of binnacle controls, i am wiring it to a key switch and it came with an overheat alarm seperate. The overheat alarm has to wires on it. I think the tan wire from the motor is for the temp sensor but what do i wire the other one to. Thanks , Matt

If I remember right it is key on power from the key switch.

my manual shows a purple wire.
