Can a 1960 evinrude 5.5 hp be converted to a 7.5 by simply changing the carb. I bought what I was told was a 5.5, but before paying the seller he told me about the mod. I still bought it because it ran good, and he threw in a new gas tank.

Seems like every seller has a simple, cheap mod. to boost horsepower by 25%. Interesting how THEY never do the simple, cheap modification but are always eager to see the buyer do it. Don't tell me, all you have to do is change the carb. jets and grind out the opening in the intake a little wider.........
Still, the 5.5 is a super motor.
