Problem with the model number, Fisher. If that last "L" is actually an "I" it is an '81.<br /><br />Wiring insulation can become brittle from too much heat for too long. When the wire inside is exposed to water, particularly salt water, it may corrode and become brittle. This shouldn't happen with marine grade wire because the individual strands of copper are tin plated.<br /><br />I would start my search for a harness, complete, here:
