I am working on a 1974 evinrude 6 h.p. outboard <br />I recently rebuilt the carburetor and the fuel pump. the motor was brought to me because it did not run at all, now it idles beautiful but when I rev the engine up it revs fine runs good at high rpm for about ten to fifteen seconds then starts to run rich and smoke badly if leave it at full throttle for more than sixty seconds or so it almost comes back down to an idle. if i slowly return it to idle it will run just fine all day long. i pulled the carb back off just to recheck my work all is good in carbville all adjustments are as they should be. i have rebuilt several of these carbs over the years and never had this problem. p.s. the fuel pump diaphragm was all dried out and hard. before i rebuilt it. thank you. david baker.
