Hello everyone
I have a Evinrude 60hp 3 cylinder,1995 model and i think its been cursed by a DEMON who hates water.
Model no BE60TLEOC
Serial no G 03751787
My latest problem is driving me nuts.
I disconnected the vro as soon as i got the engine to be on the safe side and use pre-mix at 50-1.
The engine ran fine in a water butt for about 30 minutes, was then stopped and put away for a couple of weeks.
Next i got a brand new tank and fuel line, to make sure ive got no fuel line problems, as i dont know the age of the old ones.
Now on last sunday i take the boat to the river, it starts fine and idles for a couple of minutes then dies
I pump the bulb and it runs again fine for a few minutes then dies
Ok so i pump the fuel bulb again, and this time rev it up and take boat for a ride, i have to keep pumping the bulb to
keep it running but do this for about an hour. ( no going home without enjoying a boat ride)
Once back home i take off the VRO fuel pump and completely strip it down and find nothing seems to be wrong with it.
I make 100% sure its nice and clean, and re-fit to engine.
Today i get boat out of garage put engine in water butt and fire it up.
It runs fine, but again only for a few mins then dies unless i pump the bulb
I have checked compression a few weeks back and all cylinders are good with 145. 147,145 psi.
checked again today and all cylinds still giving same figures.
Fuel is fresh and clean, oil is also fresh, i use quicksilver 2 stroke oil, fuel tank new, fuel line and bulb new.
I took the fitting of the fuel line and connected it direct to the engine fuel filter as well so as to eliminate the
fitting from engine to tank etc.
The disconnected oil side of the VRO is plugged and NO air is getting in there.
the pulse nipple on the engine was taken off and cleaned to make sure its not got any blockage etc.
what am i forgetting to check ?
i cant think of anything else to try ?
I do have another VRO pump from same year engine, ive put this on and that gives exactly the
same results as original in that it dies after a few minutes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This evinrude is realy getting at me, ive not had issues like this that ive not been able to simply fix in the past.
im getting so old that im missing stuff that is obvious to those who know !!!
Please help, advise me,
