Evinrude 60hp tear down (steps) for rings and piston changes

Hi all,

I would like to disassemble my evinrude 60hp 1989 TLC for a rings and piston change.


I am very handy man ; however, I do not have experience on outboard engine.

1) do you have any recommendation about a good manual or video to do it.

2) Can you provide me the main step to disassemble it

e.i

a) Disassemble cylinder head
b) Remove flywheel
c) Remove carburetor
Etc..


Any tips are very welcome

You need a manual as mentioned, OMC preferably. It will prevent you from forgetting steps like orienting the new pistons the proper direction, checking ring gap, torque values, etc. Good luck,
