Hi there,

Just got hold of an evinrude 6hp which is in need of a few repairs, I have a general parts cat but i'm unsure which year the engine is. The serial number is B0005561. Has anybody any info?

Thank you in advance

The "Model Number" is needed to determine exactly what the engine is. Let us know what it is.

Thats a 1986 6hp Evinrude that was manufactured in Belgium. A very good model.

Re that model number:

I know the B indicates that it was made in Belgium, E for Evinrude, the 6 the hp, also that the L is for long shaft and CD are the year letters but what do the B and the A in the middle stand for?

(I've got an '84 6hp Yachtwin, E6SLCRM)

Re: Evinrude 6hp details

Thanks, just wondered.

In fact the S & the L on mine stand for Sail (It's a Yachtwin) and Longshaft (6 hp Yachtwins were longshafts, 20"!)

Some of it is a bit ambiguous. Mine was made in Belgium, it says that on it but there is no B in the model number!
