Model #6504R, Ser#Joo12215,year? Picked this motor up in a yard sail for cheap.The motor started right up ,so I grabbed it.Now that I got it home ,I found that after it warms up,it starts spiting and sputtering ,gas is comming out of the holes on side of carb..I'm not familiar with boat motors,but is it a safe assumption to thing that the float is stuck,if so what is the setting,or is there another problem i'm not familiar with,any and all suggestions appreciated.<br /><br />mth54- Pink at night sailors delight,Pink in the morning sailors take warning!

mth54,<br />It looks like you have a 1975 6HP. You didn't mention if you had the motor in a water tank when " The motor started right up ...." If it was not in water when you started it, it's time for a water pump impeller. <br />You'll probably want to do a carb rebuild. Parts are available at any OMC/Bomb dealer or Nappa auto parts. Be sure to check the lower unit fluid too.<br /><br />You should pick-up a manual, it really helps in the long run.
