Evinrude 70 Crankcase ventilation?

When demounting the carbs I found the tube from the nipple under the carbs to be plugged. I believe it shall be connected to the airintake/silencer for draining excess fuel/oil into the crankcase. My question is. Does this tube also function as crankcase ventilation and what would be the symptoms if it´s plugged?<br />I´ve had a little too much smoke at low RPM and just thought this could have something to do with it.

Howdy, SpeedSelect.<br /><br />2 Stroke crankcases are not ventilated. Remember that the crankcase is a scavenging pump in an unsupercharged 2 stroke.<br /><br />What other symptoms beside the low rpm smoke were you having before teardown?<br /><br />Good luck.
