would something like this be worth installing, or just an inline filter? I guess this takes the water out too.

Results from the 2 tests:

Spark gap test:
Set gap of tester to 7/16" and tested all three wires to plugs, all three had sparks continuously jumping gap while engine ran. When testing the top wire, the engine never started, but still showed good spark - I guess that was to be expected given the results of the drop test.

So where do I go from here?

thanks for the help.

Sounds like you are testing gap by running the engine one one or two cylinders(?)
Use a test like this, all plugs remove when cranking:

Ok so I re-did the gap test with the same unit as pictured above from oldboat1. Set the gap to 7/16"
All gave good spark. I videoed the test, but couldn't figure out how to upload on this forum so you just get a screen shot.

I guess the next thing is a new bulb and line with filter??

In the end it seems to have been a faulty bulb. Replaced ALL fuel lines and primer bulb and she now runs great.
