Hi and thanks, its pumping great or so it seems but I took the thermostat out and tested it and the little pit on the top didn't move it is stuck flush with the top of the stat.(I think the stat is seized closed) It has a vernatherm type of set-up which has a number of parts, is there a replacement type of thermostat which supersedes these stats? Thanks for the help,
I work away so I will check the compression numbers when back at the boat next weekend, to fit a new water pump kit is a nightmare as we have no where to retrieve the boat where we are situated without a great deal of hassle.
Bill.

Do yourself a favor.----Install the latest water pump repair kit 432955 !!----A factory kit comes with simple instructions.----If your motor is overheating you risk major damage to your motor.-----If fitting a repair kit is a hassle then , fitting a replacement motor is easy ?????

Hi again,my old temperature switch OEM number 0584152 twin tail has failed and I tried o a new one with a single wire and it didn't send the engine into limp mode when it overheated ,so I have manager to source a new one OMC oem number 0384088 twin tail and I was wondering if anyone knew if it would work instead of the original, both were listed as for 70hp units but different years.

Still having problems, the engine was running in the dock at mooring and it started to blow steam out the pee hole ,does this mean the head gasket has gone??
