Dear fellows. I am a newbie on your forum. I have a question concerning about Evinrude 75hp ficht ram model 2000. That is a fuel injected 2- stroke engine . So my question is how to get more horsepower from it. I suppose that the engine is the same as in 90hp and 115hp. Please advise.

Hey there. The only way i think your gonna get a little more power from that engine is by putting a set of reeds in it. Boysen are supposed to be good and they do make a set for that motor. Other than that that is all you can do. It is illegal to try to do anything else to that engine. The epa has that pretty well blocked off. If you really want more power you may want to trade it on for a 90hp or a 115 if your boat can take that.

Thank you for answer. So there is no chipset for the fuel injection system like there is for the cars example. The motorblock is same in bigger evinrudes so how they have done it. Changing a fuelflow ? or what? In some motors like example Yamaha 20hp is a flowlimiter and if you take that away it is a 25hp. Of course fuel consumption is bigger. Extra power is not illegal in my country. only if you exceed the allowed motorsize for the boat, that is illegal.

Hey there. Yeah there isnt a chip for the fuel injection or a programmer like they do for cars and trucks. You are right they are the same block and rotating mass. The way that it differs from the 90 and 115 hp is by the computer programming and also the timing. I asked this question at the tech service. I have ran the new 150s and the 135hp units and the 135 is way quicker and also faster on the top end on the same boat and that had me wondering what the heck is up with that. They told me it is the timing and the computer programming. I hope this helps you. All i can say is if you want more power to just get the 90 or 115.

Hey fordmechanic....What do they do to the timing on these motors that makes the 135 quicker than the 150? I have a 150 FICHT on a 19' Mako, if I put a 135 on it would it be faster? Is it a better torque curve on the lower hp that makes it quicker? Thanks.

Hey there. The timing isnt the only difference from the 135 and the 150. They both use the same block pisons and ect. The differences that i have been told of is the computer mapping. That is the program that the ecu uses to direct the right amount of fuel for the injectors to use. The amout of fuel and how long the injector sprays. I couldnt believe it myself that the 135 is faster at the bottom end the midrange and at top. I dont really see how that just a map could justify it. I know the 135 is a hot rod. I know if i was to get a new boat and i had a choice of a 135 or a 150 the 135 would be my abosolute choice. I would suggest that if you had a chance or able to go and test run a 135 and see for yourself. I have ran about 6 boats with the 135 and all of them are exciting. The first one that i rigged my dad and i took out. He was in the passenger seat and i had the controls and when i took off he fell out of the seat and rolled to the back of the boat i had to stop they are quick and fun.

What about the torque of the 75 Evinrude. Like you told about differences of 135 and 150 hp. I am interested because I change my old 80hp Mariner yearmodel 1982 to Evinrude 75 Ficht ram model 2000. So is there lack of performance due to less horsepower and increased weight. Mariner is about 250 lbs and Evinrude about 320lbs. With Mariner top speed is 30-32 depending on how much weight on board.
