Evinrude 75 hp acceleration problem-where to make adjustment?

I looked through the message list, but did not see this problem come up before:

When I accelerate quickly from a stop, my 1978 Evirude 75 hp wants to bog down and die. This happens almost every time. I have no other problems, the motor starts and idles fine. If I choke it momentarily when it wants to die, it gets past the point of bogging down and accelerates to max rpm without any other problems.

How and where do I make the adjustment to relieve this problem? Someone suggested that it may be set too lean based on the fact that choking works when it wants to die.

Thanks for the help.

The "too lean" theory could be right. I would try adjusting your high speed mixture a little at the time and see what you get.

BoatProject:

Do I make the adjustment by accessing the high speed orifice plug on each carburetor?

Thanks for your reply.

Bob
