Evinrude 9.9 carb

Hi all, I have an Evinrude 9.9 that I bought sometime in the 80's. I want to overhaul the carb but I am not sure of the year. I was at the lake on the weekend and I wrote down what I read as the model number but it appears wrong. It is 10RCGE but it appears the G is wrong. It is a Canadian motor.
Any guesses as to what year it might be. Are the carbs the same for other year mogels?
Any help would be appreciated as it is a long way back to the lake.

isthe carb in the front of the engine or on the side?

Maybe the "G" is a "C" so that would make it a 1988.

The carb is on the front of the motor.
