The "CS" in the model number is a 1980. It can be a little tricky when looking up the years on those newer motors :D.

Welcome to Iboats.

Thanks for the help.

And the Welcome.

I'm usually on some other sites (sailing) and I run a couple of forums myself, but I've got a new-to-me-boat with a trolling motor (well, it's a 9.9 hp I guess, and on something smaller it would be a pretty big motor I think. haha).

Since it's on a 25' sailboat, I would think of it as a trolling motor. :)

This is a 2-stroke motor, right? I've got no data on it, but the gas in the tanks SMELLS like oil and gas mix and I can't tell much else from the motor. I know it runs, I know it starts (when I bought it the previous owner fired it up for me in a garbage can haha) and it ran ok.

I've not fired it up since, because he ran the gas out and said that it should be "fine". So, it's actually on the back of the boat right now on the trailer.

So - suggestions on getting a manual (where I should look, or call) would be helpful and anything about "winterizing" if I need to. I'm in Colorado.

Thanks folks

If it looks like a 2 stroke, smells like a 2 stroke, and runs like a 2 stroke, it most likely is a 2 stroke :D. Sorry.... I'm trying to be humorous. Seriously though 50:1 mix on the fuel and 2 cycle outboard oil. Was it spitting water out bellow the engine's cover when the motor was running? You need to make sure that it is spraying water out, probably wouldn't hurt to change the impeller out on it to play it safe. Should make for a good trolling motor I believe.
