Evinrude 9.9 Starter

I have a 1989 Evinrude 9.9 Sailmaster And was wanting info on the starter. Can this starter be rebuilt I have found sites saying yes you can, but then I can only find oem or rebuilt starter on the net. Thanks for any info<br /><br />Vahevala

Take it to a local starter/generator/alternator repair shop. They may be able to rebuild it for ya.<br /><br />c/6<br /><br />Hooty

It is rebuildable. As to the post above make sure the parts are marine quality.

NAPA auto parts lists a new starter.<br /> number 18-5617 fits 74-92.Id give it a look.
