Evinrude 90hp stuck in reverse

I have a 90hp evinrude VRO (1985 ) which has somehow jammed itself into reverse. The gear handle is working and the cable looks fine , lots of movement. I put it into reverse at a slow speed, no forcing, but there it remains. Any help ! Please?

Have you tried shifting out of it? maybe your tucc the lever in nuetral while inrevers try cussing and fussing with the controls see if you year a POP

Bearded Lady,<br /><br />Take a look at where you gear cable is connected under the cowl of the engine. It will be on the right side (standing behind engine) to see if the cable end is moving.<br /><br />Also, look at the lever that the cable end is attached to. Follow the lever to where it hooks to the shift shaft right under the bottom carburetor. Make sure all the connections are good and that the shift shaft moves when the cable is actuated.<br /><br />Let us know!

Hey fellow boaters,<br /><br />Yes the shift shaft moves fine. Really smooth but I still get nothing but reverse. Could it be an internal problem. Do gears get jammed ? and if so where? The bottom end, in the gear case? It is a manual shift - do they have solenoids ?<br /><br />Gratefully...
