Evinrude bad lower

I just got a Evinrude 60 HP 3 cylinder electric shift. The lower unit is stuck in forward. The guy i got it from said it went well, just no neutral or reverse. Any sugestions on what might be causing this? bad connections? solonoide bad?<br />(excuse the spelling) also, when i laid the motor in back of truck to transport it, oil leaked out from lower unit, & I do not think that is good! Can someone tell me what kinda oil to use in the lower unit after i take it apart or when i get another? <br />One more thing, would it be very dificult to convert to a manual shift???

BTW, its a model 60073 The guy told me it was a 71, but according to my year guide, it's a 1970
