I was given advise before on this subject but need more help please, new cables were fitted to OMC control unit, first time boat was tested it would not go into reverse, I turned the adjustment 3 turns to allow it to engage reverse, it ran on muffs and turned prop in reverse, had boat out last week and forgot to try reverse! yesterday had great day on sea here and engine performs faultlessly showing 37 mph on GPS, however in marina I remembered about reverse and tried to engage it, I could hear it trying to go into gear but didn't, only tried it once, so question is is there some kind of black magic involved in getting it right? can the shift cable clamping at the engine be altered or is it in the OMC box, should I mark the position on brass part to show me where it engages forward as referance, disconnect shift put it in reverse by hand and adjust cable to reach that point by thumb wheel, if it doesn't attempt to get equal throw on cable? I have 2 clymer manuals and searching shows nowt! please advise/ thank you JBD
