Has any one used this product before... I was at my local dealer and they highly recommended that stuff to condition the fuel much better than Sta-Bil Marine

I add STA-Bil Marine to my Evinrude 200 ,Never used any other product so figure to check what every one else think

I've used 2+4 before and never had any bad gas but I suspect the sta-bil marine would work just as well. I would suggest that you go for the one that is cheaper.

Re: Evinrude BRP/OMC 2+4 fuel conditioner

The 2+4 works on many issues and also conditions the fuel for winter storage-just like the Stabil product does. Why not just completely drain the tank? Merc now prefers that fuel tanks be completely drained prior to winter storage due to the poor quality of today's fuels. The concern for next spring is-do you want to run your engine on 6 month old fuel? The fuel will deteriorate and the ethanol in it will attract water. Merc issued a service bulletin on this 2-3 years ago.

Re: Evinrude BRP/OMC 2+4 fuel conditioner

I used it regularly some years back when running late fall and in winter condition.
The 'best' about it was that it did not disperse the water, but the water in the tank turned RED!
When my see-through filters turned RED I knew it was time not only to change filters but drain out the tank as well.
A lot of additives disperse the water by using alcohol.
To me a question if I wanted the engine to run on fuel/alcohol/water/oil mix or get a warning and clean out the tank and stay with fuel/oil-mix.

Hmmmm I guess i got to watch if it turn red then , Which this sound pretty right on as i got 2 tanks on this new rig both are full when i bought it month ago, I been running the boat and using STA-Bil in the main tank didn?t switch to the AUX tank and no telling how long it was setting .... Am planning to go get me a bottle to treat the AUX tank. Over all am going to burn them 2 tanks soon rather than re-cycle..

What the hell do you do with the old gas once you drain it?

So a BRP dealer recommended a BRP proprietary product (that he makes money on) over a product that may be purchased anywhere....maybe I am a cynic.....

I just run fresh fuel and only use a fuel stabilizer over winter layup.

I'm pretty much in Chris's camp on this one. I don't use stabilize in the summer, as I run fuel through it quickly. Does not really sit long in my tanks. The stabil products work best if the fuel will be sitting the tank for longer periods of time.
