Last year purchased a 1993 Suntracker pontoon.<br />Had a stalling problem never reached wot.<br />300 or so yards and it would die. It would start back, but at idle only. The forum here said to check fuel, plugs and carbs. Replace plugs, fuel filter, hoses, cleaned fuel tank, and carbs. Did this at the end of last year. Ready to use it this year and could not get it to idle. Did a compression check #1 65 #2 less than 30 and #3 90. The motor is an evinrude 60 #G03279404. <br /><br />Any suggestions,<br />Fireman in need

With a difference in compression between the lowest and highest reading being 60 psi, I'm afraid that you are looking at a major overhaul.<br /><br />Remove the cylinder head and inspect the pistons, cyl walls, head gasket, etc.

Thanks for the info. Pulled the head and #1 was scored a little on the side, but #2 was real bad. Felt like a brake rotor.<br />What would be a good manual to purchase and a reasonable place to by parts online.<br />Thanks <br />Rvfireman

One other thing---what could be a possible cause for 2 cylinders to be scored and the botton not?<br />Too lean of fuel or oil (VRO), ran hot. What are somethings to look for as I start to overhaul?<br /><br />Rvfireman

The upper carburetors (#1 & #2) are fouled, clogged, gummed, (or was at one time) which would result in the top two cylinders being run lean (improper lubrication). Be sure to rebuild all of the carbs when you have the engine reworked.

Thanks Joe.<br />Just purchased omc manual for the motor from ebay.<br />Carried the block to have it worked. Will I be pushing my luck to have it bored to 30 over. Not sure if it will clean up at 30. Will putting a <br />sleeve in it hold up ok.<br /><br />Thanks,<br />Rvfireman

If the motor is about the same age (need model number to know) as the boat, there is a .040 piston available. <br /><br />If it is indeed a 56 cid 3 cylinder there were several bulletins out about everything from jetting to water pumps to relocating the "pisser" fitting. <br /><br />We also know they ran a tad lean in the mid range and it affected #2 the worst. And stick with Champion plugs!<br /><br />Good luck!

Proping to the correct RPM realy inportant, check fuel pickup tube in fuel tank, should be 1/2 inch.

The model #TE60TLETD. Where would I find out about the bullitens beside the dealer. The machine shop said 30 over would do it. He said only do the two cyclinders. Did recommend to replace the rist pin needle bearings.<br /><br />Thanks<br />Rvfireman
