Anybody have the lowdown on the new evinrude E-tec motors. Are there any known problems at this time. Do they take high test fuel.

they also can run on different oils. but the hi cost of the XD100 is offset by the miserly use of it. Really neat engines. All that I have run ( roughly 20 of them) have been flawless.<br />I have only run one higher than 90 hp

Re: Evinrude E-Tec

The E-TECs have been in production since the summer of 2003 and have been very reliable. They are made to run on ordinary 87 octane fuel. You can now buy E-TECs from 40hp up to 250hp. They are as quiet and as smooth as a 4-stroke, yet use the same or less fuel while outperforming those motors.
