Just bought a good running 1991 evinrude e25teeie with a jet lower unit. Due to the area of missouri I live in jets are about the only viable style of outboard for using in our rivers. The motor I bought is a good running unit but i have a narrow hull. (18 x 36 flatbottom jon) I checked part numbers and the crankcase, cylinderhead, pistons, and crankshaft all have the same part numbers on the 25 and 35 hp engines. Id assume I could swap out the intake and carb and convert it to 35 hp? I'm sure im missing something else but the primary parts should just bolt on. My goal is to pick up just enough extra power to make my narrow hull plane out properly. I *think* it can be done if I can safely squeeze 40 hp out of it. Any thoughts?

Yes you can swap out the intake and carb and get more HP. You would get approximately 5 more HP since the 35hp JohnnyRude's were rated at the powerhead instead of the prop. When they started rating them at the prop they just called them 30hp motors from then on.
Don't know how your going to squeeze 40hp out of that motor without dumping a bunch of money and making it less reliable.
