Hi yea all , I have a super fastwin serial number 15012-45473, what can amyone tell me about it ? and the lower unit leaked all the oil out of it , It has been out in the shead and theres a oil spot under her I just found !!! This summer was the camping trip from H e double tooth pick !! bent the axle on our brand new trailer , we made it but on three wheels , { someone came out and fix it right at our camp site } any way hooked up the generator and it ran for about 3 hours the couldnt get it started all week !! anyway got the super twin out and got her on fatherinlaws 16 foot flat bottom , and she fired right up !! me and the kid went of a spin , man she really move , till we came in to get the rest of the kids , she quit , while trying to restart her pulled the cord out of her, gave up on her till went and got new spark plugs , redid the cord , tried her again !!!! pulled the cord out of her , and she fired for about 1 min , went and got new plugs again and new gas !!!! rehooked the cord drained the gas, new plugs, treid her again !!!!! broke the cord !!!!!!!!!!@#$$@ lol still didnt fire !!! this time when i got the new cord I couldnt get the srping in right !!!! $%$%#%@!#@%^ lol rowed out to go fishing the rest of the time !!! can anyone help . John

Ps the battery can opener died while i was tring to use it !!!!! ^%%&%$#%#^*((&^$##^%%&^^ hahahahah

I believe that is a 53 the first year for that 15.Great motors eventually became the 18.
Is the gearcase empty?Don't remove the little Phillips screw just the large flat head fill/vent screws.While it may need seals try new gear lube in through the bottom screw.New gaskets on F/V screws.If it was stored in freezing weather without fresh gearlube the gearcase may be cracked.When you get it to run check the lube after 30 minutes or so.If the motor has sat around a lot (year or more)you may have to go through the fuel system from tank to carb.If the coils are original you should change them,very common failures.If they haven't failed they soon will.You may be able to peek at them through a service window on the flywheel.Any chalkyness, discoloration or cracks get new.Available right here at iboats among many other places.
There is no need to yank the cord, A good solid pull will do it.Also be sure it is ingaged before pulling its easier on the pawls. Rope for 56 15 should be 7/32,70" long ,yours should be similar.Try to never pull to the end.

Can't add much more to that. Replace the rope and make sure you have enough in there. I like to use at least 6' lengths since that is my maxium reach from hand to hand.

thanks wbeaton i wasnt jerking on her the end of it was dry rotted !! is there a manual I can get for her , want to use her for a kicker , trolling In our new old boat, it was me and my dads old kicker on a 20 foot tri-hull moved that one pretty good , should move my 15.6 tri-hull just right for trolling !!! or do you know of a on line digram for the recoil spring ?? thanks again wbeaton John

If the motor doesn't fire up when you replace the cord, check the ingnition coils (located under the flywheel). The coils in these old e-rudes are notorius for self destructing.

I have an opportunity to buy an Evinrude Super Fastwin 15hp outboard motor and gas can good condition #15012-33519. The owner got it from an estate sale. It looks good, but how do I know if it works or is worth buying. How much is a good price?
